My New Project!

My OH found this fab dolls house at the..... yes you guessed it car boot sale. :D

It cost £15 which I think is a bargain. It is battered and bruised and most of the furniture is damaged but with a little tlc I can restore it to its former glory. It's meant to be for my daughter but I have a feeling that I will be playing with it more than her.

Oooh I cant wait to get started.

New Stuff...

My friend asked me to create some accessories for her graduation show. Below are the results (that I remembered to photograph) The first two are hair accessories attached by comb and the ring is a funky elasticated pink ruffle.

I want to wish my friend the best of luck for her show, she's dealt with so much recently and she deserves to do well. Good luck 'Placebo Lady'!!! ;)

Card Fun

This weekend has been spent mainly making cards. I had a flash of inspiration so made the most of an empty house whilst the 'rabble' were at the seaside. (apologies for the iffy photo quality)

This first card was inspired by my new found fondness of gardening. If only my garden was a colourful as this card. :)

I really enjoyed making this 'Happy Birthday' card. I used clashing papers, ribbon stickers and attempted to perfect my use of wooden stamps.

Finally this card was made using stylish paper from Dovecraft. This would make an ideal card for someone with sophisticated taste.

All these cards will be featured on my website www.fraggiesfripperies.co.uk over the coming days. Or you can take a peek at my auctions on the newest UK auction site http://www.biritzs.com/viewlistings.aspx?Seller=Fragg1es

Crazy Car Booting

When all 'normal' people were snuggled up in bed on a grey sunday morning I was being dragged around the car boot sale. It was cold and grey and drizzling and my bed seemed like a much better option.

Whilst I stropped my way around the boot sale I stumbled across six volumes of Newnes Pictorial Knowledge encyclopedias. Instantly my brain was thinking I could cut up these bad boys and make some interesting stationary with them. They cost a whopping £3 and I made the OH carry them as punishment for the early wake-up call.

It wasnt until I got home and looked closely that I discovered how amazing they were. They dated back to the 1930's and the imagery and descriptions were a riot to read.

They cover a wide range of subjects with lovely illustrations; a few in colour. I couldnt cut them up it would be such a shame and I would love for my daughter to be able to read them one day.

It was suggested to me that I should scan the images I like and print onto a parchment paper, having the best of both worlds. I can still create the things that are whizzing around my brain and also keep a set of wonderful books that in a few years may be worth more than the £3 I..... I mean the OH paid for. ;)

Watch this space for the results...

Cowboy Candle Making....

My new hobby is candle making (one day I will stick with one craft) I've tried some basic melts but I could do alot better. Luckily I have some help from candle makers at 'Candles Soap 'n' Scent' who have been great at pointing me in the right direction. Here is an example of my not so successful fruit melts.

How to wreck a book in one evening!!!

I was scanning through a few books looking for inspiration and decided to make some card blanks and envelopes. My books are looking a little worse for wear but I could wait to go into town to buy something I didn't mind cutting up. :)

Meanwhile back to less destructive creations I made this charming little gold tone bracelet using an old length of chain and adding a vintage style pendant.

Experimenting with New Media

I have been very busy working on new projects. These include handmade cards, candles and other various bits and pieces. Below are a few examples, i'm not convinced they have all worked but it's good fun expanding the Fraggies Fripperies range. :)

http://www.fraggiesfripperies.co.uk/

This celebration card was made using a balloon background with a cupcake designed and cut from bits of card and paper lying around the house. I used a pre-made 'its a celebration' topper.

This gift tag was done by using a sizzix gift tag shape and then cutting up an old superman magazine. These are a great way to personalise gift packaging.

Now i'm not an artist by any means but I really enjoyed painting this miniture seascape. It was done on canvas paper using watercolours then placed into a fridge magnet blank. Its proudly placed on my fridge next to my daughters letters and numbers :)

Kilt Brooch Loaded with Funky Charms

This brooch was made using a silvertone chain wrapped around a kilt pin. I then added various charms in brass, plastic and metal. I mixed new, vintage and broken jewellery to create a lovely unique piece.

Beaded Rings and Charm Bracelets

I went a bit crazy last week and ordered far too many beads and charms - oh well you can never have enough eh? I have various stashes hidden around the house so my partner doesnt cotton on to how much I spend.

My favourite buy has to be some vintage charms and cameos. I should have something to show you soon.

With some of my 'stash' I made some lovely beaded rings and a loaded charm bracelet. Charm bracelets are so fun to make I love packing the chain with unusual, interesting bits and bobs.

Here are some examples all of which are listed on my website with more details http://www.fraggiesfripperies.co.uk/

Apologies for the photo quality, something isnt working properly - what? I have no idea :)

Beaded Rings - 'Bling Rings'

One of the items of jewellery I love making the most are beaded rings or 'Bling Rings'. They are so versatile, you can create any look and well the bead and colour combinations are endless. I do some that are a standard colour and style but most are one off pieces, unique. I love randomly picking beads and seeing where it takes me sometimes the most random combinations turn out to look the best.

Here are some examples of past and present creations:

The following examples can be found on my website http://www.fraggiesfripperies.co.uk/

Prices start from £2.49 excluding p&p
